Seat sack Fairy and pumpkin decorating

A new center we get to work on during centers and small group is MATH the room!

They had to walk around the room and find halloween cards that have different number of objects. They had to count them, find it on their sheet and write how many.

We are getting really good with reading our sight word books, making sure we track the words with our fingers.

Tic tac teen is a fun game we get to play so that we can work on identifying those tricky teen numbers.

Grace is working hard on matching uppercase and lowercase letters!

We were SO excited when  we got to school on Thursday because the SEAT SACK FAIRY visited our classroom! She said our seat sacks were clean and neat so she left us a treat! We.have to keep it that way because she will come back and visit again!

Greeting each other with a good morning high five around the

We had to decorate a pumpkin for a contest! We.decided to make a pumpkin. We all took turns painting!

We think he looks pretty cute! The winning class pumpkin will be announced at the Halloween Party on Monday, October 31. Wish us luck!

Farewell to Sarah

On Monday our friend Sarah and her Grandma stopped in to let us know that Friday, October 22 was her last day at ELGS. She will be heading back to Texas where her family is. She came to school on Tuesday to say goodbye to her friends and to pick up anything else that she had here. We will miss her, but we will write a letter to her in the future to see how she is doing!

Pumpkin Investigation

During Let's Find Out in science we read through our magazine to find out about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Its fun to try to read it with a buddy!

Then we conducted an investigation with our pumpkins! We had 3 groups of students with a pumpkin. We had to stack unifix cubes to find out how tall our pumpkin was. Then we had to count the lines on our pumpkin. We had to predict whether our pumpkin would sink or float and then we had to test it out in the sink! We were shocked to find that it floats!

The best part of our investigation was predicting how many seeds we had in our pumpkin. We had to decide which pumpkin we thought was going to have the most and why. THEN we got to dig out the seeds and gooey goodness from our pumpkin! To help us with counting the seeds, we had to put them in groups of ten!

Liam is hard at work counting out 10 seeds and putting them in groups of 10. We made circles on our paper to make sure we don't confuse the groups! We made our predictions on a video. See below!
